Russia fired 200 missiles on Ukraine, Biden immediately called Modi

Buildings burning, firefighters working non-stop, underground metro stations and distraught people sitting in bunkers. This scene was common in more than 15 provinces of Ukraine on 26 August. In fact, Russia attacked Ukraine with more than 200 missiles and drones. After the attack, the whole of Ukraine is on high alert. There is news of blackout in the entire city. Four people have been confirmed dead and the number of casualties may increase. This is the biggest targeted attack by Russia on Ukraine in the last few months. This attack has happened just two days after PM Modi’s visit to Ukraine. It is being said that PM Modi can initiate peace between Russia and Ukraine. After Russia’s deadly attack, US President Joe Biden has called India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi. US President Joe Biden spoke to Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the phone and praised him for his message of peace and ongoing humanitarian support for Ukraine.

Joe Biden said in a post on X that I spoke with Prime Minister Modi to discuss his recent visit to Poland and Ukraine, and appreciated his message of peace and ongoing humanitarian support for Ukraine. We also reaffirmed our commitment to work together to contribute to peace and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific, the US President said. Modi told Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky that Ukraine and Russia should sit together to end the war and India is ready to play an “active role” in restoring peace.

Biden praises PM Modi’s historic visit

This was the first conversation between the two leaders after Modi’s visit to Russia, Poland and Ukraine, and recent developments in Bangladesh. The two leaders also discussed Modi’s recent visit to Poland and Ukraine, as well as the UN General Assembly meetings in September, the White House said in a readout of the call. The President commended the Prime Minister for his historic visits to Poland and Ukraine, the first by an Indian Prime Minister in decades. Biden and Modi reaffirmed their continued support for a peaceful resolution of the conflict in accordance with international law based on the UN Charter. The White House said, “The leaders also emphasized their continued commitment to work together, including through regional groups like the Quad, to contribute to peace and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region. PM Modi had said in his post on X that the situation in Bangladesh was also discussed in the conversation with Biden. The Prime Minister said that during the talks with Biden, he had a detailed exchange of views on various regional and global issues, including the situation in Ukraine. He said, I reiterated India’s full support for efforts related to the early restoration of peace and stability. Modi also said that he and Biden also discussed the situation in Bangladesh and stressed the need to ensure early restoration of normalcy there and the safety of minorities, especially Hindus.
