Sable will turn 30 in September and so this could be his last Olympics. Sable said, “I have made mistakes in the last two years. I went to two World Championships (2022 and 2023) with good fitness but could not perform well in both. I want to improve, hopefully this Olympics will be my best. ” Sable won the gold medal in 3000 meters steeplechase at the National Inter-State Championships here. It was like a practice for the nine-time national record holder.

Sable, who broke the dominance of Kenyan athletes by winning a silver medal at the Commonwealth Games 2022, finished 11th in the 3000m steeplechase final at the 2022 World Championships in the US and was eliminated from the opening round heat in the 2023 season in Hungary. He has participated five times in the prestigious Diamond League meet but his best performance has been to finish fifth. The player said, “Before the Tokyo Olympics, I got infected with Kovid-19 twice. Then, last year too I made mistakes. I used to start practice every year in April or May.
