Sex video scandal: Prajwal Revanna is not getting relief, judicial custody extended till 8 July

A court of Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) today (June 29) sent former JD(S) MP Prajwal Revanna, prime accused in the sex video scandal, to judicial custody till July 8 (Monday). Prajwal was produced in the court by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) as his police custody ended on Saturday. Prajwal’s lawyer said that in the backdrop of illness, Prajwal needs to be shifted to a private hospital. However, the court directed him to submit a petition in this regard to the jail authorities.

The court said the matter will be heard on Monday if the jail authorities allow it. Prajwal will be shifted to the central prison in Parappana Agrahara on the outskirts of Bengaluru. Special Investigation Team (SIT) officials had taken Prajwal into their custody in connection with the fourth sexual assault case registered against him. Prajwal’s brother JD(S) MLC Sooraj Revanna was also arrested in a case of forced unnatural sex registered by JD(S) male activists and is being investigated by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

His father HD Revanna, a JD(S) MLA, was jailed and released on conditional bail. Mother Bhavani Revanna is also out on conditional bail in an abduction case linked to the sex video scandal.
