Suspended Janata Dal-Secular (JDS) leader Prajwal Revanna, who is facing allegations of sexual harassment and sex scandal, has returned to India. He returned to India late last night. He landed at Bangalore airport after 35 days from Germany. As soon as he landed at the airport, he was arrested by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) on Friday. The SIT is investigating this case. Prajwal Revanna fled the country on 27 April as soon as the case came to light.

Let us tell you that the team that arrested Prajwal Revanna (33) as soon as he returned to Bangalore from Munich had all women members. The operation to arrest Prajwal was led by women police. Prajwal Revanna has been taken to the SID (Crime Investigation Department) office for questioning. A large number of police force was deployed at the airport when Prajwal Revanna returned so that he could be taken to the police station safely.

Prajwal (33), grandson of Janata Dal (Secular) patriarch H.D. Deve Gowda and National Democratic Alliance (NDA) candidate from Hassan Lok Sabha constituency, is accused of sexually harassing women. So far three cases of sexual harassment have been registered against him. Prajwal returned to Bangalore about a month after the allegations were made, after which Central Industrial Security Force personnel took him into custody and handed him over to the SIT. A court warrant was pending against him.

Sources said that after completing the formalities, the SIT took him into its custody. Officials said that keeping in mind Prajwal’s security, the police took him with them through a separate exit. Prajwal had issued a video statement promising that he would appear before the SIT on May 31. Prajwal left for Germany on April 27, a day after the voting in his constituency for the Lok Sabha elections.

The Interpol had issued a ‘Blue Corner Notice’ against Prajwal following a request by the SIT made through the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). After the SIT filed an application, a special court of elected representatives issued an arrest warrant against Prajwal Revanna on May 18. The Congress-led Karnataka government has urged the Center to cancel his diplomatic passport. The Ministry of External Affairs had earlier issued a show cause notice to Prajwal Revanna asking why his diplomatic passport should not be canceled as demanded by the Karnataka government in view of the sexual assault allegations against him.
