Shahid Afridi praised Indian captain Rohit

Former Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi has praised India captain Rohit Sharma’s body language during the team’s title win in the T20 World Cup.

India defeated South Africa by seven runs in the final played in Bridgetown (Barbados). India has become the T20 World Champion for the second time after 2007, while Pakistan’s campaign ended in the initial stages with defeats to India and America.

Afridi, who played 398 ODIs and 99 T20 Internationals for Pakistan, said, “Look, the role of a captain is always very important. The captain’s body language impacts the team. The captain has to set an example. Just look at Rohit Sharma.”

Afridi said that Rohit boosted the team’s confidence with his aggressive style. He said, “Now, look at his (Rohit’s) game and his style of play, even the lower order batsmen play fearlessly because their captain likes to play aggressive cricket. Therefore, I always believe that the captain has a very important role.”

Afridi, the father-in-law of Pakistan fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi, said that the Pakistan Cricket Board should give the right to appoint the captain of the team to the national selection committee.

He said, “I don’t know what the PCB chairman has in mind now. I am also waiting to see what changes will be made but I have always supported the team and will continue to do so.
