Melbourne: India’s wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav has revealed that the death of Australian legend Shane Warne two years ago made him feel like he lost a family member as he always believed they had a strong bond. Kuldeep, who was on a brief family visit to Australia, visited the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), the home ground of his idol cricketer, where he posed for a photo with Warne’s statue outside the stadium.

Kuldeep said, “Shane Warne was my idol and I had a very deep relationship with him. Whenever I think about Warne, I get emotional. It feels like I have lost someone from my family.” However, he did not elaborate on his relationship with the legendary Australian leg-spinner. Warne died of a heart attack while vacationing in Thailand in 2022. This trip of Kuldeep, who was a member of the T20 World Cup-winning Indian team, is taking place a few months before the Border Gavaskar Trophy starting in Perth on November 22.

He said, “I am looking forward to the Border-Gavaskar Trophy and we are expecting a great cricket competition between Australia and India this year.” Kuldeep also visited the Cricket Australia (CA) headquarters and interacted with CEO Nick Hockley online. He also thanked the Indian cricket fans for always supporting the team. Kuldeep said, “Indian cricket fans around the world always support the team and I am confident that they will come here in large numbers for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy especially the Boxing Day Test match.” The Boxing Day Test match will be played in Melbourne from December 26.
