Mumbai: Shiv Sena leader Ramdas Kadam on Monday dubbed BJP leader and Maharashtra Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Ravindra Chavan as a “useless minister” over the poor condition of the Mumbai-Goa highway. Hitting back, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis questioned whether Ramdas’ comments were in line with the principles of the Mahayuti alliance. Speaking to reporters in Thane, former minister Ramdas Kadam took a dig at Chavan over the incomplete work on the Mumbai-Goa highway passing through coastal districts of Maharashtra.
He said, “Even Lord Ram’s exile ended after a wait of 14 years, but the problems on the Mumbai-Goa highway remain the same. We are still deprived of good roads. State PWD Minister Ravindra Chavan seems to be completely useless. Despite being in the alliance, I openly believe that Devendra Fadnavis should ask Chavan to resign.”
He also questioned the purpose of the minister’s review meetings and visits when the condition of roads has still not improved. Reacting to the Shiv Sena leader’s remarks, Fadnavis said, “What coalition principle is Ramdas Kadam following while making such comments in public. He could have raised his concerns with us internally. Still, I will look into the issues raised by him.”
