New Delhi. Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan said that the government’s decision to provide a subsidy of Rs 24,475 crore on phosphatic and potassic (P&K) fertilizers for the Rabi season will help reduce the input cost of farmers and increase their income. He also welcomed the Cabinet’s approval to continue the Pradhan Mantri Annadata Aay Sanrakshan Abhiyan (PM-ASHA) scheme till the financial year 2025-26 with an outlay of Rs 35,000 crore.
Welcoming the decision on subsidy on P&K nutrients, Chouhan said in a post on ‘X’, “This will ensure availability of fertilisers to farmers at affordable rates.” The minister said the Cabinet decision will also give new impetus to the government’s commitment to reduce production cost, increase farmers’ income and make farming a profitable business. Chouhan said the PM-Aasha Yojana will not only help farmers get remunerative prices for their produce but will also control price fluctuations of essential commodities. The minister said the Modi government is committed to the welfare of farmers.
