Bhopal. Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan demanded justice in the case of rape and murder of a trainee doctor in a government hospital in Kolkata and said that West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has become ruthless and jungle raj prevails in her state. The incident of rape and murder of a postgraduate trainee doctor in Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital on August 9 has created outrage across the country. Doctors have protested.

On the morning of August 15, during a protest against this heinous crime, the mob vandalised parts of the hospital. Speaking to reporters, Chouhan said the incident was a blot on the face of civilised India. Demanding justice for the doctors, he said, “The chief minister of that state (West Bengal) should be ashamed that such an incident happened. Those who were protesting against it were attacked for protesting.” He said, “Mamata ji has become ruthless in West Bengal. There is jungle raj there. The situation must change. The victim must get justice and the accused must be punished.”

The Union Minister said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had also said in his Independence Day speech that such criminals should be punished in such a way that they are scared and no one commits such crime again. Chauhan visited villages in Budhni Assembly constituency of Sehore district on Saturday and interacted with the people. The Union Minister also informed about the decisions taken by the Centre, including the construction of two crore houses for the poor in rural areas.
