YEARS

They are slaves of Amit Shah. That is why this time the election in Jammu and Kashmir is a fight between two forces – on one side are those who spread hatred and on the other side are those who spread love and fight for the rights of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

Congress leader Kanhaiya Kumar on Sunday said there is silence in Jammu and Kashmir and when his party comes to power, real peace will be established in the Union Territory.

“There is a difference between silence and peace. There is silence here. We have to bring real peace,” Kumar told PTI-Video here. Kumar is here to campaign for Congress general secretary Ghulam Ahmad Mir, the party’s candidate from Dooru seat in the Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections.

Kumar said that the people of Jammu and Kashmir are deeply angry about the “oppression they have had to go through in the last 10 years.” He said, “Those who are contesting as independents are actually slaves of (Union Home Minister) Amit Shah. That is why this time the election in Jammu and Kashmir is a fight between two forces – on one side are those who spread hatred and on the other side are those who spread love and fight for the rights of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.” Elections for the 90-member assembly of the state will be held in three phases on September 18, September 25 and October 1. Counting of votes will take place on October 8.
