World number 14 Lakshya, who made his Olympic debut in Paris, put up a tough challenge against Axelsen but lost 13-21 21-16, 13-21 in a match that lasted 62 minutes. Earlier on Sunday, Sindhu had to face defeat in the final of the Malaysia Masters against China’s Wang Zhi Yi. The Indian shuttler lost to her Chinese opponent 21-16, 5-21 and 16-21 in the women’s singles title match.
