Ranipet. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin laid the foundation stone of a new manufacturing facility of automobile major Tata Motors. There will be an investment of Rs 9,000 crore on this plant. The ground breaking ceremony of this project was held at Panapakkam in this district, about 115 km from Chennai. The facility is expected to create 5,000 new jobs. Apart from the Chief Minister, senior DMK ministers Durai Murugan, TRB Raja, Chief Secretary N Muruganandam and Tata Sons Ltd Chairman N Chandrasekaran participated in the bhumi pujan ceremony.
On this occasion, Stalin expressed happiness over Tata Motors’ plan to set up a manufacturing plant in Tamil Nadu. Stalin said, “Tamil Nadu is the first investment destination not only for big companies operating in India but also for multinational corporations. We are pleased with Chandrasekaran’s presence at this event. Chandrasekaran, who hails from Namakkal district and leads a globally renowned company, is a matter of pride for the state.” Tata Motors had signed an MoU with the government in March to set up the plant.
