Stock Market| The stock market started off well, Sensex crossed the 75,500 mark, Nifty reached 22,992

The Indian stock market started off on a very good note on Tuesday. The market opened with a strong opening. Both the Sensex and Nifty opened on the green mark, leading to a rise in early trade.

Domestic markets rose in early trade on Tuesday. The 30-share BSE index Sensex rose 194.9 points to 75,585.40 in early trade. The NSE Nifty rose 59.95 points to 22,992.40.

Among the companies listed on the Sensex, NTPC, JSW Steel, Tata Steel, Wipro, State Bank of India, Larsen & Toubro, Bajaj Finance, Mahindra & Mahindra, HDFC Bank and Reliance Industries were the top gainers. Tech Mahindra, ITC, Power Grid, Asian Paints and Titan were the losers. The stock markets had recorded a rise for the third consecutive session on Monday before the results of the Lok Sabha elections were announced.

The results of the general election will be declared on June 4. In Asian markets, South Korea’s Kospi and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng were in profit, while Japan’s Nikkei and China’s Shanghai Composite were in loss. US markets were closed on Monday on the occasion of ‘Memorial Day’. Global oil benchmark Brent crude futures were trading at US $ 83.29 per barrel with a gain of 0.23 percent. According to stock market data, foreign institutional investors (FIIs) were sellers in the capital market on Monday and sold shares worth Rs 541.22 crore net.
