With the release of the list of BJP candidates for the assembly elections, one name is most discussed. That is Sunil Sangwan, whom BJP has declared as its candidate from Charkhi Dadri. Sunil Sangwan has been the superintendent of Rohtak jail. Sunil Sangwan was currently posted in Bhondsi jail in Gurugram.
With the release of the list of BJP candidates for the assembly elections to be held in October in Haryana, one name is most discussed. That is Sunil Sangwan, whom BJP has declared as its candidate from Charkhi Dadri. Sunil Sangwan has been the Superintendent of Rohtak Jail and Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim has been granted furlough or parole 6 times during his tenure as Jail Superintendent. However, Sunil Sangwan was currently posted in Bhondsi Jail in Gurugram and recently took VRS from the post of Jail Superintendent. Regarding which he wrote a letter to the government and his VRS was also accepted.
Sangwan joined the Haryana Jail Department in the year 2002. After which he was the Superintendent of Rohtak Jail from the year 2017 to the year 2022. At the same time, in August 2017, Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim was brought to Rohtak Jail after attending the Panchkula hearing. After which CBI Court Special Judge Jagdeep Singh set up a court in the jail and sentenced Ram Rahim to 10 years each in the sexual exploitation case of two nuns. Gurmeet Ram Rahim was sentenced to life imprisonment in the journalist Ramchandra Chhatrapati murder case and the murder of Dera’s former manager Ranjit Singh. However, the Punjab and Haryana High Court acquitted him in the Ranjit Singh murder case.
Dera chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim has been granted parole or furlough 10 times since 2017. Out of these, 6 times he has been granted it while Sunil Sangwan was the jail superintendent. It is worth noting that the Haryana Good Conduct Prisoners (Temporary Release) Act empowers the jail superintendent to recommend cases to the district magistrate for granting parole or furlough to prisoners. Under this authority, Sunil Sangwan had recommended Ram Rahim 6 times. Satpal Sangwan, father of BJP candidate from Charkhi Dadri, former jail superintendent Sunil Sangwan, has been a cabinet minister in the Haryana government when Bhupinder Singh Hooda was the Chief Minister. He has contested assembly elections from Charkhi Dadri 6 times. However, he won only 2 times.
