Tata Steel started the largest blast furnace, know the specialty of Kalinganagar plant

Tata Company started steel production in the country. Tata Company has once again made a new announcement. The company has started a new blast furnace in Kalinganagar, Odisha. The company has claimed that India’s largest blast furnace has been started which is in Kalinganagar.
 
The specialty of this blast furnace is that it will help in increasing the production capacity of this plant from 30 lakh tonnes per annum to 80 lakh tonnes per annum. The blast furnace is a key component of an integrated steel manufacturing plant which is required to produce hot metal even at temperatures up to 1500 Celsius. Tata Steel in November 2018 started the second phase of Rs 27,000 crore to expand its Kalinganagar project in Odisha. Tata Steel on Friday successfully commissioned India’s largest blast furnace at Kalinganagar, the company said in a release.
 
The company said Odisha has become Tata Steel’s largest investment destination in India with investments of over Rs 1 lakh crore in the last 10 years. Tata Steel Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director T V Narendran said, “The commissioning of India’s largest blast furnace at Kalinganagar is a significant occasion for the steel industry. It sets new standards in capacity, technology and sustainability.”
 
Tata Steel said the 5,870 cubic metre capacity furnace is equipped with an eco-friendly design to optimise the steelmaking process. The expansion project includes expansion of raw material capacity, upstream and mid-stream facilities, infrastructure and downstream facilities including a cold rolling mill complex.
