A social media post by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee congratulating Union Home Minister Amit Shah on his son Jay Shah becoming the ICC chairman has become a topic of discussion on the Internet. Congratulating Shah in a post, Mamata said that the minister’s son has not become a politician but has assumed a position which is even more important and powerful. “Your son has not become a politician but has become the ICC chairman – a position far more important than most politicians!! Your son has indeed become very powerful and I congratulate you on this greatest achievement of his!” Mamata Banerjee said in a post on Instagram.
The Bengal CM’s ex post has received several reactions from internet users. A social media user commented, ‘Who congratulates like this?’ An internet user wrote, “But Shah’s fight against nepotism will always be remembered.” Internet users immediately reminded Mamata Banerjee about her nephew Abhishek Banerjee, who is a Trinamool Congress MP and holds the post of national general secretary in the party. They wrote, what about your nephew Abhishek Banerjee?
Her latest attack on the ruling BJP comes a day after she questioned the CBI’s progress in probing the case that has shaken the entire nation. “I asked for five days but the case was sent to the CBI. They don’t want justice. They want delay. It’s been 16 days, where is justice?” Mamata asked. Violent protests and attacks on police, hospital authorities and Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress (TMC) party have continued since the horrific attack on the 23-year-old Kolkata resident on August 9.
