Kolkata. Former India batsman Ajay Jadeja believes that head coach Gautam Gambhir will maintain an aggressive approach in the upcoming two-match Test series against Bangladesh and will not allow the opposition team to dominate. India will host Bangladesh for a two-Test series and three T20 Internationals. The Bangladesh tour will begin with a Test match starting in Chennai from September 19. When Jadeja was asked about the team’s approach in the presence of Gautam Gambhir, he said, “It is very clear, his approach is aggressive. One thing is for sure that there will be no dull moment in his presence, he will always try to do something.”
The 53-year-old former great, who scored 5359 runs in 196 ODIs for India at an average of 37.47, said, “He (Gambhir) will not be a person who stays calm and lets things go. He will try to do something that will surprise everyone. Like we saw Suryakumar Yadav suddenly become the captain. I am looking forward to the excitement that we are going to see.
When asked at the Cricket Association of Bengal’s (CAB) annual awards ceremony what advice he would give Gambhir for this Test series, Jadeja said, “I hope he doesn’t ask for suggestions. He is there because he has proven himself and he has a point of view.” He said, “I hope he doesn’t take anyone’s advice and doesn’t change his point of view because you should trust what has given you recognition and stick to it. He can always get better.”
Ajay Jadeja served as the mentor of the Afghanistan team during the 2023 ODI World Cup in India. Bangladesh is coming after winning a historic Test series in Pakistan but Jadeja said that India is a much better team. He said, “When any team comes after winning, it always thinks that it can win but at the moment there is a lot of difference between Pakistan and India cricket team. India is a much better team. “He said, “From Bangladesh’s point of view, they will think that if they have defeated Pakistan, then they can defeat India as well but India’s team is much better than Pakistan.
