On one hand, Modi Government has issued a notice to the dairy in the laddu controversy related to Tirupati temple. On the other hand, in the midst of this entire issue, a four-hour purification ritual has been performed in Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam temple to please Lord Venkateswara Swamy. This ritual has been successfully completed.
The purification ritual was originally carried out following allegations of animal fat being added to Tirupati laddus. Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) executive officer J Shyamala Rao has assured devotees that their concerns over the temple laddus have been allayed as the sanctity of the prasad has been restored after the purification ritual.
India’s food safety regulator has also issued a show-cause notice to a Tamil Nadu firm for providing substandard ghee to the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam temple authority. This comes amid growing demands for a thorough investigation and strict action regarding claims of use of animal fat in Tirupati laddus.
BJP leader and former minister Subramanian Swamy has urged a court-monitored probe. Meanwhile, former Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) chairman and YSRCP MP YV Subba Reddy, who has denied the adulteration charges, has sought a probe by an independent committee headed by a retired Supreme Court judge.
The apex body of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad also urged the Supreme Court to take suo motu cognizance of allegations of adulteration in Tirupati laddus. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has announced a special investigation team to probe these claims.
