Triathlon is considered to be the sport that tires a person to the last stage of his ability. It is a multi-sports event in which the player does running, cycling and swimming simultaneously and the player who reaches the finish line first is declared the winner. The rules of this sport are quite simple, under which the athletes swim, cycle and participate in running to reach the finish line within a fixed distance. Triathlon includes 1.5 km of swimming, 40 km of cycling and 20 km of running.
In the World Triathlon Sprint Championship, the contestant has to swim 750 meters, cycle 20 kilometers and run 5 kilometers. On the other hand, the Iron Man Triathlon includes a 3.9 kilometer swim, 180.2 kilometer bike ride and 42.2 kilometer run.
The men’s and women’s individual triathlon competitions at the Olympics include 1.5 km swimming, 40 km bike ride and 10 km running. Along with this, in the mixed relay, each participant has to swim 300 meters, cycle 6.8 km and run 2 km in relay format. Triathlon was first included in the Olympic Games held in Sydney, Australia in 2000. Since then this sport has remained a major part of the Olympics. In the last 2020 Tokyo Olympics, a mixed relay has also been included in this competition. In the individual competition, Duffy Ware of Bermuda won the gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics.
