The Mahabodhi Express train was stoned in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh on Monday. The train was going from New Delhi to Gaya in Bihar. The incident took place near the Yamuna Bridge at around 9 pm on Monday night when a group of youths pelted stones at the moving train. Initial reports suggest that some passengers were injured, although the railways have denied this. Meanwhile, a case has also been registered against unidentified persons in connection with the incident.

Railway officials said no one was injured in the incident. According to the railways, when the Mahabodhi Express was entering Mirzapur station at around 7:21 pm on Monday, maintenance staff member CT Ravikesh Yadav reported that a stone had been thrown at the guard brake from the south side. Meanwhile, guard Mushtaq Ahmed informed the control room that an unknown person had thrown a stone from the south side and also confirmed that no one was injured in the incident.

A similar incident was reported from Gaya in Bihar earlier this month when the new Vande Bharat Express train was pelted with stones on September 10. In this incident, the window glass of seat number 4 of the second coach next to the engine of the Vande Bharat train was broken. There was no passenger in this Vande Bharat train. At the same time, a person has been arrested in Burhanpur, Madhya Pradesh for planting detonators on the tracks of the army’s special train. According to sources, the accused named Sabir had planted 10 detonators on the railway track. Investigation is being done to find out whether it was part of a larger conspiracy. Central Railway said that railway employee Shabir has been detained by the Railway Protection Force (RPF) for questioning.
