After the completion of two phases of elections in Jammu and Kashmir, now the third and last phase of elections is to be held on 01 October. Earlier, assembly elections were held in the state in the year 2014. Assembly elections have not been held since 2014 and the situation in Jammu and Kashmir has changed a lot in the last 10 years. A change has been seen in the political corridors and even in the climate of the valley. One of these seats is Uri Assembly seat, for which voting is to be held on 01 October.
Uri assembly constituency
Talking about VIP seats of the state, Uri assembly constituency is one of them. Uri assembly seat is part of the Baramulla Lok Sabha constituency. In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, independent candidate Ablul Rashid Shaikh had won from Baramulla seat. During this, he had defeated JKNC candidate and former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.

Assembly election equations
However, it will be interesting to see in the assembly elections whether JKNC is going to lose from Uri assembly seat or the party will win contrary to the Lok Sabha election results. Talking about the 2014 assembly elections, JKNC candidate Mohammad Shafi had won from Uri seat.
The equations have changed
This time the political equations of Jammu and Kashmir have changed. Earlier, direct fight between JKNC and Congress party was seen on many seats. But this time there is an alliance between Congress and JKNC. This is INDIA alliance, which was also there in Lok Sabha elections 2024. In such a situation, the contest on Uri seat has become interesting. This time Sajjad Shafi has fielded on JKNC ticket. JKPDP has fielded Sheikh Muneeb to contest against Sajjad. Sajjad belongs to a political family and his father Mohammad Shafi has also represented Uri seat 6 times.
Decision in the hands of youth
Elections for Uri Assembly seat are to be held in the third phase i.e. on 01 October. This time the total number of voters in the state is 88,66,704. Out of which 4,27,813 are youth voters. In such a situation, the young voters will decide the fate of the valley and it is expected that the young voters will participate enthusiastically in the voting.
