US National Security Advisor Sullivan will visit India: White House

As Narendra Modi prepares to be sworn in for a third consecutive term as India’s prime minister, US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan will visit New Delhi to discuss shared US-India priorities with the new administration, the White House said.

US President Joe Biden called Prime Minister Modi on Wednesday to congratulate him on his re-election and during this, Sullivan’s visit was discussed between the two leaders. The White House said, “President Joe Biden spoke to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday and congratulated him and the National Democratic Alliance on their historic victory in India’s general election.”

Biden praised 65 crore Indians for participating in the democratic process. The White House said, “The two leaders also discussed the upcoming visit of National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan to New Delhi. During this visit, US-India priorities will be discussed, including a reliable, strategic technology partnership with the new government.”

In response to Biden’s congratulatory message, Prime Minister Modi said, “I was very happy to receive a call from my friend President Joe Biden. I express my gratitude for his congratulatory message and his respect for Indian democracy.”

“Told him that the India-US global partnership is poised to scale new heights in the years to come. Our partnership will continue to be a force for good for humanity and the greater good globally,” Prime Minister Modi said in a post on the social media platform ‘X’. The date of Sullivan’s visit to India has not been announced yet but it is expected to take place within a few days of Modi taking oath for his third term.
