Uttar Pradesh: SP MLA Ansari arrested by police

In an old case related to road blockage, Meerut city Samajwadi Party (SP) MLA Rafiq Ansari was arrested on Monday by the Nauchandi police station of Meerut district from Zaidpur area of ​​Barabanki, an official said.

The official said that the MLA was brought to Meerut by road late Monday evening. Superintendent of Police Nagar Ayush Vikram Singh said that Ansari was missing for the last several days. A case was registered against him in 1995 in the Civil Lines police station of the district in a case of blocking and vandalism.

Singh said that the police were conducting raids in search of him. Several non-bailable warrants were issued against Ansari, but he did not appear in court. He said that the Allahabad High Court had ordered his arrest.

MLA Ansari had to appear in the High Court in a case of 1995 but he was not appearing before the court. He told that the High Court had ordered to arrest Ansari and present him in the court.

The police had formed a team to arrest the SP MLA. A police officer said that after getting a medical checkup done at the district hospital here, Ansari was produced in the court of Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate (ACJM First)-MPM/LA at around 9 pm on Monday night under tight security. From where he was sent to Meerut jail in judicial custody for 14 days.
