Dehradun . In view of the increase in leopard activity in the Forest Research Institute (FRI) campus in Dehradun, entry of visitors has been closed for five days from Wednesday. In this regard, the information given by FRI said, “In order to avoid any untoward incident due to the movement of leopard inside the campus during day time and keeping in mind the security reasons, as per the instructions of the competent authority, the FRI campus has been closed for all the visitors.” It has been closed from October 2 to October 6.
It was told that currently the leopard’s activities have increased in the campus and around the main building and it has hunted animals like dogs and deer. According to the information, leopards are being seen continuously in the FRI campus since September 15 in the morning, evening and day time and there is a need to take precautions to avoid any untoward incident. A national heritage site, FRI is one of the oldest institutions in the country, established during the British era. Its building is a unique example of Greco-Roman architecture, which tourists from all over the country and abroad come here to see. Apart from this, there are a variety of museums related to vegetation and forestry which attract nature lovers besides researchers.
