Karnataka BJP has criticised state Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao after his video of swimming in a pool went viral. The saffron party criticised the Congress minister citing rising dengue and malaria cases in the state. The BJP wrote on its official handle on Twitter that even though cities are full of puddles and filth and diseases like dengue and malaria are on the rise, the pro-poor Congress government is swimming in a clean swimming pool.

The party posted a video citing the story of Roman emperor Nero, who is said to have been playing the flute while the city burned. The minister hit back, saying swimming and exercise are part of his regular fitness regimen and suggested the BJP leader to consider them. The minister replied that it not only keeps you healthy but also keeps your mind sharp, which can help you focus more instead of lying and employing distraction tactics.

The minister stressed that he was concerned about the rise in dengue cases in the state and said that the first thing he did upon reaching Mangalore was to review the dengue situation. This video was of the Mangalore International Swimming Pool. A campaign has been launched to destroy the breeding sites of Aedes mosquitoes. We went door-to-door to check water accumulation spots and created awareness among people.
