New Delhi. Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva has said that the main reason for the waterlogging problem that Delhi is facing today is the corruption of Delhi government’s Jal Board ministers Saurabh Bhardwaj and Satyendra Jain and their desire to get financial cuts in every departmental work. Sachdeva has said that today the whole of Delhi is struggling with waterlogging, many places like Kiradi, Sangam Vihar, Burari have permanent waterlogging, posh areas like Rohini, Rajendra Nagar, Patel Nagar, Kamla Nagar are also suffering from waterlogging at many places and the sewer barrel has collapsed near the Old Delhi Railway Station, but the Jal Board officials are not able to order any repair or major cleaning work.

The current Jal Board Minister Atishi was busy blaming the officials everyday. She kept accusing the Lieutenant Governor, Chief Secretary and the Executive Engineers of Jal Board of not working at the behest of the BJP. The Delhi BJP was constantly protesting against waterlogging and exposing the failure of the Kejriwal government, so under the pressure of increasing public protest, Minister Atishi had to make peace with the officials.
The Chief Secretary and Jal Board officials clarified to the Minister that first on 5 June 2020, Satyendra Jain and then on 21 July 2023, the outgoing Water Minister Saurabh Bhardwaj issued such orders that the officers cannot issue work orders of even Rs 100 without the permission of the departmental minister i.e. the Jal Board Chairman, due to which the maintenance of the Jal Board has come to a complete standstill for the last one year. After the Chief Secretary exposed the orders of the then Jal Board Ministers Saurabh Bhardwaj and Satyendra Jain promoting corruption, the ashamed Minister Ms. Atishi had to cancel the orders of Bhardwaj and Jain yesterday on 22 August 2024, which makes it clear that Minister Ms. Atishi, who canceled the orders of the previous ministers, now knows that the desire for corruption of Saurabh Bhardwaj and Satyendra Jain is responsible for the waterlogging and wastage of Delhi and about 35 deaths.

Virendra Sachdeva has said that before July 2023, as per the departmental system, officers working on various posts could get maintenance work done up to the prices as per their capacity, but Saurabh Bhardwaj, for personal benefit, while being the Water Minister, issued such an order on 21 July 2023 that without his personal approval, no officer can order even a single rupee and due to this order, no departmental maintenance work was done this year, as a result of which Delhi drowned in waterlogging. Sachdeva has said that Saurabh Bhardwaj is still a minister in Delhi, but after the Minister Ms. Atishi canceled the orders of her predecessor Water Minister Saurabh Bhardwaj yesterday on 22 August, he has no moral right to remain in the post. Therefore, Saurabh Bhardwaj, guilty of waterlogging in Delhi, should resign immediately.
