Russian President Vladimir Putin held a phone conversation with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday. PM Modi visited Ukraine last week and on Monday discussed the situation there with US President Joe Biden, among other topics. The latest conversation between the two leaders came nearly four days after PM Modi’s visit to war-torn Ukraine where he met President Volodymyr Zelensky. During his conversation with the Ukrainian leader, he reiterated the need to resolve the war through dialogue and diplomacy.

Earlier, the Biden-Modi conversation was the first after Modi’s visit to Russia, Poland and Ukraine and recent developments in Bangladesh. The White House said in a readout of the call that the two leaders discussed Modi’s recent visit to Poland and Ukraine, as well as the United Nations General Assembly meetings in September. The President praised the Prime Minister for his historic visits to Poland and Ukraine, the first by an Indian Prime Minister in decades. Biden and Modi reaffirmed their continued support for a peaceful resolution of the conflict in accordance with international law based on the UN Charter.
