WhatsApp’s new feature continues to be tested, it makes it easier to react to photos and videos

WhatsApp, the instant messaging platform used by billions of people around the world, is testing a new functionality that lets users instantly react to photos and videos shared on the platform. Currently, the only way to react to a photo or video is to long tap on it and choose your reaction from the bar that appears.

Testing is still going on

However, WhatsApp is testing a new functionality that lets users instantly reply and react to media. Last year in September, the developers introduced a new reply bar to the app’s media viewer, but the latest beta takes it a step further by adding a react bar to the media viewer.

When viewing a photo or watching a video in WhatsApp, users now have the option to directly reply to it. You can also press the emoji button on the right side of the bar to react to media. If your preferred reaction is not visible, simply tap the ‘+’ button to select the emoji of your choice.

This is better than the current implementation where you have to either long press or swipe right to react or reply to any media. And while you can sideload the latest WhatsApp beta, WABetaInfo suggests that the functionality is currently available to a handful of users, meaning there may be a server-side element involved.

WhatsApp has added many features

Over the past few weeks, WhatsApp developers have added many new features to the app. This includes the ability to pin up to 3 messages per chat, Passkey support for iPhones, and chat filters to find certain important messages.
