Brigadier Shri DS Tripathi (Retd) said that if seen, talks for ceasefire between Israel and Hamas are going on since November 2023 i.e. efforts are going on for about 9 months but till now no concrete results have been achieved.

This week in CricketInFocus News Network’s special program Shaurya Path, we wanted to know from Brigadier Shri DS Tripathi (Retd) that the US Secretary of State has made a lot of efforts to get a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas. Do you think a ceasefire is possible? In response to this, he said that America is working hard to make it possible but sometimes Israel backs off and sometimes Hamas. He said that but in view of the presidential elections in America, one thing is certain that the Biden administration will ensure a ceasefire for some time. He said that earlier also a ceasefire has happened between Israel and Hamas twice on the initiative of America, although it was short-lived.

Brigadier Shri DS Tripathi (Retd) said that if seen, talks for ceasefire have been going on since November 2023, that is, efforts have been going on for about 9 months but till now no concrete results have been achieved. He said that in June 2024, Israeli PM Netanyahu had admitted that he basically wants a partial agreement for the return of hostages. He said that Egypt, Qatar and America are mediating in this conversation. He said that during his recent visit, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has admitted that Netanyahu has accepted a proposal to remove the shortcomings in the peace plan. Now the responsibility to accept it is on Hamas. He said that however Hamas has responded that the latest proposals include many new concessions to Israel, so it is not able to accept it. He said that at the same time Hamas has alleged that Israel is dragging time to continue the war.

Brigadier Shri DS Tripathi (Retd) said that as far as the latest update in the conflict is concerned, according to reports the Israel army says it carried out an airstrike on a Hamas “command center” in Zeitoun, Gaza City this morning. He said the Israeli army accused Hamas of storing weapons there, claiming that the facility was located inside a building that previously served as a school. There were no reports of casualties, he said. Earlier, an Israeli airstrike was reported on a gathering east of Zeitoun, Gaza City, killing one person, he said. He said fierce clashes were also reported between Israeli forces and fighters of both Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad in the area.

Brigadier Shri DS Tripathi (Retd) said that Ashkenazi Nechemya, 19, from Ashkelon was also reported killed south of the Palestinian enclave, bringing the total number of Israeli soldiers killed on or since 7 October to 695. He said this figure includes 332 soldiers whom the Israeli army claims to have been killed since the start of the ground operation in the Gaza Strip on 27 October.
