Imran Khan is currently in jail for allegedly inciting protests and violence against the powerful Pakistani military in May 2023, charges he denies. In a recent interview from jail, he said, “I am locked in a 7 feet by 8 feet death cell, which is usually reserved for terrorists. People voted for me because they are fed up with the current system and the way Pakistan is being run.”

Jailed former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan will contest for the post of Oxford University Chancellor from his prison cell. Oxford graduate Imran Khan is lodged in Adiala Jail on multiple cases. He will enter an online vote for the post, which was necessitated by the resignation of Tory party chairman Lord Patten, who held the post for 21 years. Imran Khan’s adviser on media Syed Zulfi Bukhari told The Telegraph that Imran Khan will contest for the post of Chancellor of Oxford University because there is public demand that he should contest.

After getting the green signal from Khan, we will announce it publicly and start a signature campaign for it. Imran Khan studied economics and politics at Keble College, Oxford in 1972. He also served as chancellor of Bradford University from 2005 to 2014. Apart from Imran Khan, the major candidates in the fray include former British prime ministers Sir Tony Blair and Boris Johnson. This will be the first time that the chancellor elections will be held online instead of the traditional process that requires graduates to attend in full academic dress.
