Will Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma take part in domestic cricket after a long time? They may compete against each other

The upcoming Duleep Trophy is expected to see the participation of superstars of Indian cricket including skipper Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. It is being said that the selectors want all the Test players to be available for the domestic tournament before the upcoming home series against Bangladesh. The Ajit Agarkar-led BCCI selection committee will pick the squads for the four teams – India A, India B, India C and India D – that will participate in the newly-launched Duleep Trophy.

Apart from Rohit and Kohli, Shubman Gill, KL Rahul, Ravindra Jadeja, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Suryakumar Yadav, Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel have also been asked to play in the competition. Jasprit Bumrah, who played a key role in India winning the 2024 T20 World Cup, may not play in this tournament and there is a possibility that he will also not play in the Test match against Bangladesh. India is scheduled to play 10 Test matches in a span of four months, out of which five will be in India (two against Bangladesh, three against New Zealand) while five will be on the tour of Australia.

The six-match Duleep Trophy will be held in Anantapur (Andhra Pradesh) from September 5. However, according to reports, the venue may be shifted to M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru with Indian cricketers agreeing to participate in it as Anantapur does not have an airport. However, there is no clarity on which game Rohit and Kohli will play in, but if the team management decides to hold a camp in Chennai before the start of the Bangladesh series, then both will play in the opening encounter.
