If Bangladesh takes over the hosting of the tournament, it will not be surprising. There has been a long curfew in the country, internet shutdowns as well as riots, arson and violence. The ICC may take a decision in a week. Among the other options, India is a strong contender.

The Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 was scheduled to be held in Bangladesh, but recent developments in Bangladesh have put the ICC in a dilemma. Internal unrest in the country has raised concerns at the ICC headquarters in Dubai about the security of the global event scheduled to be held in October.

According to Cricbuzz’s report, if Bangladesh takes over the hosting of the tournament, then there will be nothing surprising in it. There is a curfew in the country for a long time, internet shutdown as well as riots, arson and violence. ICC can take a decision in a week. Among other options, India is a strong contender.

After Sheikh Hasina stepped down as Prime Minister and left the country, an ICC spokesperson said, “The Bangladesh Cricket Board is closely monitoring developments in coordination with their security agencies and their independent security advisors. Our priority is the safety and well-being of all participants.”

Also, ten teams have to play 23 matches in 18 days from 3 to 20 October at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka, Bangladesh and the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium in Sylhet. But looking at the current situation, organizing the tournament seems difficult. The ICC can choose a country with Bangladesh’s time zone for the tournament. Apart from India, UAE and Sri Lanka also meet this requirement.
