YouTube Paid users will now get AI-powered feature, know what it does

YouTube is testing its AI-powered ‘Jump Ahead’ feature. According to 9to5Google, the company has been testing the feature since March and it is now available to all Premium subscribers. This new feature allows users to skip to the best part of the video that most viewers usually skip ahead to. This feature combines user data and AI technology to predict the best points of the video.

The report says, to use this new feature, after premium subscribers double-tap to proceed, a new pill-shaped ‘Jump Ahead’ tab will appear on the bottom right side of your screen, which Will appear for a few seconds before disappearing if users wish to advance to 10 seconds.

You will be able to watch the video better through AI

After tapping on the button, users will see “Jumping over commonly skipped section” written on the display. Then by using data from multiple users and with the help of AI this feature will help the user to watch the best part of the video. As of now, the feature is only available for Android app users in the US and is limited to English language videos only. YouTube Premium users can try this experimental feature until June 1. After the deadline, the platform may formally launch it as a permanent feature for all premium users, or even extend the experiment further. The ‘Jump-Ahead’ feature is an improved version of the double-tap skip feature launched earlier. But instead of skipping ahead just a few seconds, this new experimental feature skips straight to the most popular part of the video.

A few weeks ago, the platform tested the new feature in what it called “a very small experiment”, with some users automatically enrolling. However, the feature is now more widely available through the experiments page, as 9to5Google reports.

This feature is for both mobile and desktop

Users can try this feature on both mobile app and desktop. To enroll for this feature on the mobile app, users need to go to Settings and then scroll down to the ‘Try Experimental Features’ section and click on it. Users will see the option to activate these features. Remember that these features are only available for a short period of time.
