Mumbai: The 27-year-old daughter of a Maharashtra cadre IAS officer couple allegedly committed suicide by jumping from the 10th floor of a building near Mantralaya in south Mumbai on Monday morning, police said. Police said Lipi, who was studying law, jumped from the building near the state secretariat at around 4 am. She was immediately rushed to GT Hospital where she was declared dead, officials said.

A senior officer said that she was pursuing LLB from Sonipat in Haryana and was not happy with her performance in studies. The officer said that a suicide note was recovered from the spot, in which it is allegedly written that no one should be blamed for her death. Officials said that a case of unnatural death has been registered at the Cuffe Parade police station.

Lipi’s father Vikas Rastogi is the Principal Secretary in the Maharashtra Higher and Technical Education Department while mother Radhika Rastogi is also a senior IAS officer and is serving in the state.
