Yogi Adityanath directed to reactivate ‘Anti Romeo Squad’ teams

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday directed to reactivate the ‘Anti Romeo Squad’ teams. He also directed the local authorities to display the list of top 10 criminals of the district in police stations.

In his one-day visit to Ambedkar Nagar after his two-day visit to Ayodhya, the Chief Minister held a meeting to review the development works and law and order situation in the district.

Emphasising on the need to maintain a fear-free environment, Adityanath said safety of women should be the top priority. He directed district level officers to ensure public hearing and dialogue.

Later, at a meeting with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) functionaries and public representatives here, the chief minister said, “The coming elections are a contest between the BJP’s development agenda and the opposition’s destructive propaganda.”

By-elections are due on 10 assembly seats in the state. The election schedule has not been announced yet. According to the press release, Adityanath highlighted the opposition’s “strategy of dividing the society on the basis of caste and spreading false rumours”.

He said, “The opposition may use social media and other platforms to mislead the public during the by-elections.” The Chief Minister urged BJP officials and public representatives to actively connect with the people and remove the “opposition’s propaganda” from every platform. He said that party officials and public representatives should go among the people and communicate with them.
