Naming the airport after Kartar Singh Sarabha will be a humble tribute to the great martyr who sacrificed his life to protect the motherland.

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Friday reiterated the demand to name Ludhiana’s Halwara airport after Shaheed Kartar Singh Sarabha. In a letter to Union Civil Aviation Minister K Rammohan Naidu, the Chief Minister reminded that the Punjab Assembly had unanimously passed an official resolution on March 22, 2023, urging the Ministry of Civil Aviation to name the upcoming international airport at the Indian Air Force Station in Halwara, Ludhiana as Shaheed Kartar Singh Sarabha International Airport.

He said that the interim terminal building of this airport is expected to be ready by the end of this month. He said that flights are expected to start from the airport by the end of this year. He said that he had also requested the former Union Civil Aviation Minister in this regard.

Chief Minister Mann said that he had personally taken up the matter with him as the issue involved the sentiments of the people of Punjab. He reiterated that naming the airport after Kartar Singh Sarabha would be a humble tribute to the great martyr who laid down his life to protect the motherland.
