Ajay Singh Yadav has also tagged Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi in his tweet. He further said that the decision to resign was indeed a difficult one with which his family had an association of 70 years as his father late Rao Abhay Singh had become an MLA in 1952 and after that he continued the family tradition but Sonia Gandhi was the Congress President. After leaving office, he became disillusioned with the party high command because of the poor treatment he received. It is noteworthy that Captain Ajay Singh Yadav had won five consecutive assembly elections from Rewari, Haryana in 1991, 1996, 2000, 2005 and 2009.
Captain Ajay Singh Yadav won the Rewari constituency for the first time in the 1991 Haryana Assembly elections by defeating Rajinder Singh of Haryana Vikas Party (HVP) by 25,824 votes. In the 1996 Haryana Assembly elections, Ajay Singh Yadav again won the Rewari constituency by defeating independent candidate Randhir Singh Kapriwas by 1,767 votes. He won the Rewari seat for the third consecutive time in the 2000 Haryana Assembly elections when he defeated independent candidate Vijay Somani by 4,924 votes. Notably, Ajay Singh Yadav continued his winning streak in the 2005 Haryana Assembly elections when he defeated Randhir Singh Kapriwas of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Rewari by 12,779 votes.

His son Chiranjeev Rao was the Congress candidate from Rewari seat in the 2019 Haryana Assembly elections. He won the seat by defeating BJP’s Sunil Kumar by just 1,317 votes. However, in the recently concluded Haryana Assembly elections 2024, Chiranjeev was defeated by BJP’s Laxman Singh Yadav by a huge margin of 28,769 votes. Chiranjeev Rao is the son-in-law of Lalu Yadav. In such a situation, Ajay Singh Yadav became a friend of Lalu Yadav.
