Bhadohi (Uttar Pradesh). Police have registered an FIR and started investigation in the possible paper leak of the Technical Education (Teaching) examination of Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) to be held on October 20. Officials gave this information on Friday. Police said the step was taken after audio of an alleged conversation between an employee of the Indian Institute of Technology (IICT) located in Bhadohi and an unidentified person surfaced. According to the police, the audio clip indicated an attempt to compromise the integrity of the upcoming examination for personal gain.

Additional Superintendent of Police Tejveer Singh said that after discovering the alleged audio clip, IICT Director Rajiv Kumar Varshney informed the UPPSC Secretary about the matter through email. The official said that in the email sent on October 14, Varshney has given detailed details of the alleged conversation with an IICT employee named Rajesh Verma. Singh said, the conversation shows that an attempt is being made to compromise on the upcoming examination for personal gain.

The Director of IICT has requested that a pen drive containing more evidence along with the audio clip be submitted for thorough investigation. Considering the seriousness of the matter, UPPSC Deputy Secretary Dharmendra Kumar Tripathi lodged a formal complaint at the Bhadohi City police station on October 16, under the Uttar Pradesh Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act-2024 and the Prevention of Corruption Act, the official said. Violation of Section 7 of the Indian Penal Code was cited. Singh said that a comprehensive investigation is being conducted including interrogation of the persons involved in the case.
