America praised the Indian government and the people of the country for the successful elections

The United States praised the Indian government and the people of the country for successfully conducting the Lok Sabha elections. The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has crossed the majority mark for the Lok Sabha and Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going to form the government for the third consecutive time.

However, BJP has lost a large number of seats in three Hindi speaking states. The Election Commission of India has released the final results for all 543 Lok Sabha constituencies, in which the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has been declared victorious on 240 seats and Congress on 99 seats.

“On behalf of the US, we congratulate the Indian government and its voters for successfully organising and participating in such a large election,” State Department spokesman Matthew Miller said at a regular press conference on Tuesday.

“We are looking forward to seeing the final results,” Miller told reporters before the Election Commission announced the final results. He was responding to a question on the Lok Sabha elections in India.

He said, “I will not comment on who won and lost the elections as is done all over the world. What is important for us is that we have seen the biggest exercise of democracy in history during the last six weeks where the people of India came out of their homes to vote.”

He also denied all reports of interference in India’s elections by Western countries including the US. At the same time, the India-focused trade and business group in the US, ‘The Board of America-India Strategic Partnership Forum’ (USISPF) said on Tuesday, “Our organization congratulates the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) for its historic victory for the third consecutive time in the 2024 general elections.”

In a statement, the USISPF board also congratulated the citizens of India for adding another chapter to the country’s “proud democratic history.”
