Aman Sehrawat has created history by winning the bronze medal in the men’s 57 kg freestyle at the Paris Olympics 2024. He won the match held on Friday. After achieving this victory, he has become the first wrestler to win a medal for India at Paris 2024. With this victory, Aman has also become the youngest wrestler to win an Olympic medal in Indian history.

Aman is the seventh Indian wrestler to win an Olympic medal. Before him, legendary wrestlers like KD Jadhav, Sushil Kumar, Yogeshwar Dutt, Sakshi Malik, Bajrang Punia and Ravi Dahiya have won Olympic medals. Aman’s name has also come in the list of these legendary wrestlers.

At the same time, after Aman Sehrawat’s victory, India’s medal count has increased from five to six in this Paris Olympics. India has five bronze and one silver medal. Before Aman Sehrawat, Manu Bhaker won two bronze medals, one in the shooting mixed team event and the other in the individual category. Meanwhile, Swapnil Kusale won a bronze medal in shooting and Neeraj Chopra won a silver medal in the men’s javelin throw event. The men’s hockey team won a bronze medal.

Such was Aman’s life
Sehrawat was born on 16 July 2003 and is currently 21 years old. He hails from Birohar in Haryana’s Jhajjar district. He initially started with mud wrestling. When he was just 11, both his parents died due to various medical problems.

The wrestler topped his first national championship title in 2021, and he trains under Lalit Kumar. In 2022, he won the gold medal at the Under-23 Asian Championships, becoming the first Indian to do so. Then in April 2023, he won the gold medal at the 2023 Asian Wrestling Championships. He also won the bronze medal at the 2022 Asian Games. He won the gold medal in the men’s 57kg event of the Zagreb Open in January 2024, as he outclassed all his rivals on the basis of technical superiority.
