Bihar: Misa Bharti wins from Pataliputra, Rohini Acharya loses from Saran seat

Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) candidate and elder daughter of party supremo Lalu Prasad, Misa Bharti, defeated her nearest rival Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Ram Kripal Yadav by a margin of over 85 thousand votes in the Patliputra Lok Sabha seat.

Lalu’s other daughter Rohini Acharya faced defeat from Saran Lok Sabha constituency at the hands of BJP’s Rajiv Pratap Rudy. Misa Bharti got 6,13,283 votes while her nearest rival BJP candidate Ramkripal Yadav got 5,28,109 votes.

Union Minister and BJP leader RK Singh lost the Arrah Lok Sabha seat to Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) Liberation candidate Sudama Prasad by over 59,808 votes.

In the Agiaon assembly constituency by-election held along with the Ara Lok Sabha seat, Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) Liberation candidate Shiv Prakash Ranjan defeated his nearest rival Prabhunath Prasad of the Janata Dal United (JDU) by a margin of over 29,835 votes.

The by-election was necessitated due to the disqualification of Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) Liberation MLA Manoj Manzil after he was convicted in a murder case.

Raja Ram Singh of the Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) Liberation won the Karakat Lok Sabha seat by defeating Bhojpuri actor and independent candidate Pawan Singh by a margin of over 1,05,858 votes.
