Satyan Mokeri will be the LDF candidate from Wayanad Lok Sabha constituency in the by-election to be held on November 13. This decision was taken in the CPI State Executive. The announcement is likely to be made soon. The party considered some including ES Bijimol and Sathyan Mokeri. Annie Raja, who contested the elections against Rahul Gandhi last time, had already made it clear that she is no longer in the fray. The name of Anni Raja’s daughter Aparajita also came up.

Chief Election Commissioner Rajeev Kumar announced that the Wayanad Lok Sabha by-election will be held on November 13. Wayanad is the only parliamentary constituency where by-elections will be held along with 47 other assembly constituencies. The last date for filing nomination is October 25 and the last date for withdrawal of candidature is October 30. The counting of votes will take place on November 23 and the results will also be declared on the same day. The by-elections are being held in Wayanad after Congress leader Rahul Gandhi resigned from the Wayanad Lok Sabha seat in favor of retaining the Rae Bareli constituency. Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi is expected to contest the by-election on this seat. This will be Priyanka’s election debut.
