From education-employment to marriage, before the elections, the Chief Minister of Haryana made many big announcements

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Wednesday announced that people in the state earning less than Rs 1.8 lakh annually and registered under the Ujjwala scheme will now get LPG cylinders for just Rs 500. The decision, which comes barely months before the state goes to polls, is expected to impact around 46 lakh families in Haryana. As per the Ujjwala scheme guidelines, the beneficiary should be 18 years or above and there should be no other LPG connection in the same household.

Adult women belonging to any one of the following categories – SC, ST, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Gramin), Most Backward Classes (MBC), Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY), Tea and Ex-Tea Garden Tribes, Forest Dwellers, People living on islands and river islands listed under SECC Families (AHL TIN) or any poor family as per the 14-point declaration, are eligible to avail the scheme.

In another announcement, Saini said under the Mukhyamantri Dudh Uphaar Yojana, from now onwards, government school students between the ages of 14 and 18 years will get fortified milk for 150 days every year. Besides, from now onwards under the Haryana Matru Shakti Udyam Yojana, an applicant can get a loan up to Rs 5 lakh. The women revolving fund of self-help groups has been increased from Rs 20,000 to Rs 30,000.
