Muizzu’s office said in a statement that President Muizzu has accepted the invitation to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Prime Minister Modi. Indian High Commissioner to Maldives Munu Mahawar handed over the invitation letter to him during a courtesy visit to the President’s Office.

Earlier on Wednesday, Muizzu had congratulated Modi and expressed his desire to work with the Indian Prime Minister to advance bilateral relations. Muizzu said on the social media platform X, “Congratulations to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) on their third consecutive success in the 2024 general elections.
