MapmyIndia CEO said something big about Ola Maps, also warned people

The ongoing war between Map My India and Ola Maps is not stopping. Now the CEO of Map My India has given a new statement amid this fierce battle. The CEO of Map My India said that the claim of Ola’s parent company ANI Technologies to develop India’s navigational map is a “gimmick”. After sending a legal notice to Ola Electric, Map My India CEO Rohan Verma questioned Ola’s claim that the map has been supplied by startup Geospoke Private Limited.

Denying any risk to his company’s business due to the poor quality of Ola Maps, he said, “We don’t see any business risk because we don’t see any good product coming out there. People are complaining all around about their (Ola) updated cab app, their updated electric vehicle app that their maps are pathetic and causing problems for users. Everyone knows these are just announcements and gimmicks, but the quality of the product is very good.”

This comes after MapmyIndia on July 23 sent a legal notice to Ola for violating the terms and conditions of the license agreement that Ola Electric had signed with the company in 2021 to use its APIs (application programming interfaces) and SDKs (software development kits). On the notice, Ola said that it “strongly refutes the baseless and motivated statements made by MapmyIndia. They are a clear indication of the company’s desperate attempts to stay relevant by defaming its competitors.” Rohan Verma said that Ola Electric licensed its APIs and SDKs and then integrated it with its own software.

He said, “It is well known that map making is a serious business. It requires a long investment of time, capital and expertise. Across the world, despite many attempts, there are very few players on a global scale who have survived or succeeded. It is just not possible for someone to suddenly come and say I have made maps without the right track record and authenticity, let alone someone who has been actively using the map data and APIs and SDKs of another company for many years.”
