Paris Paralympics 2024: Sumit Antil continues to shine, wins Gold Medal for the second time in a row with a Paralympic record

The praise for Indian para athletes is not enough. Each player is better than the other. Ignoring their physical shortcomings, they are proving their mettle in front of the whole world in Paris Paralympics 2024. India has already won 14 medals on the fifth day of Paralympics 2024, while javelin star athlete Sumit Antil has given India the 14th medal in the form of a gold medal. Sumit has won the gold medal in the Men’s Javelin Throw F64 category. Along with this, Sumit has also created a new record by throwing the javelin 70.59 meters in his second attempt.

After Sumit, Sri Lanka’s Dulan Kodithuwakku secured the second position with a throw of 67.03 meters. After which he won the silver medal. Australia’s Michael Burian (64.89 meters) secured the third position and won the bronze medal. However, India’s other athlete Sandeep Chaudhary (62.80 meters) remained at the fourth position.
Let us tell you that Sumit broke his own Paralympic record in this competition. He threw 69.11 meters in the first attempt, which was a new record. After that, he broke his own record once again by throwing 70.59 meters in the second attempt. Sumit had earlier won the gold medal in the Tokyo Paralympics as well.
Currently, this is India’s third gold medal so far. Before Sumit, Avani Lekhara gave India its first gold medal in shooting. Badminton player Nitesh Kumar gave the country its second gold medal while Sumit gave India its third gold medal.
