Shiv Sena deputy leader and spokesperson Sanjay Nirupam criticised Shiv Sena (UT) chief Uddhav Thackeray, claiming that he was completely bowing before the Congress high command in Delhi out of desire for power.

Former Maharashtra CM and Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray along with his son Aditya Thackeray met Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge and Lok Sabha leader Rahul Gandhi in Delhi. Earlier on Monday (August 5), Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut had said that the former Maharashtra chief minister will visit the national capital along with Aditya Thackeray. He had said that Shiv Sena party chief Uddhav Thackeray will be in Delhi from August 6 to August 9. Yuva Sena chief Aditya Thackeray ji will also accompany him. He will be meeting some leaders in Delhi and in those meetings, he will meet Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge ji, Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi ji, Sonia Gandhi ji and some others.

Meanwhile, Shiv Sena deputy leader and spokesperson Sanjay Nirupam criticised Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray, claiming that he is bowing before the Congress high command in Delhi solely out of his desire for power. Speaking at a press conference held at Balasaheb Bhawan, he said, “Uddhav Thackeray’s current Delhi visit is an example of his helplessness. The country remembers the time when national leaders used to demand discussions at Matoshree during the era of Hindu Hriday Samrat Balasaheb Thackeray. He mentioned that despite the impossibility of his government being formed, leaders like Nana Patole, Balasaheb Thorat, Jitendra Awhad, Anil Deshmukh and Aditya Thackeray are competing for the top spot.

It should be noted here that there is speculation that elections will be held in November this year to elect 288 members of the Legislative Assembly in Maharashtra. The term of the Maharashtra Assembly is scheduled to end on November 26, 2019. The last assembly elections in Maharashtra were held in October 2019. The development comes almost a day after senior Congress leader Ramesh Chennithala said that the grand old party will sound the poll bugle in Maharashtra on August 20, the birth anniversary of late Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi. After a meeting with state party leaders, he said the party has invited Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) allies Thackeray and NCP (SP) president Sharad Pawar for the event.
