Afghanistan captain Rashid Khan said on Monday that his team is not dependent on bowlers to get favorable results and his batsmen have developed the skills and confidence needed to achieve big targets. Afghanistan used to rely on its world-class spinners but now it also has aggressive batsmen like Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Ibrahim Zadran and Azmatullah Umarzai. Rashid said on the eve of the match against Uganda in the T20 World Cup, “These are things of the past when our batsmen used to struggle a bit and our bowlers used to play an important role in winning the match.

He said, “Later some young players came in our team and they worked hard to get a chance to play for Afghanistan. After this, they started playing in leagues around the world, which made them better.” Rashid said that talent, skill and right mindset are necessary to register a win. He said, “Our batting is such that we can say that if the target is 200 runs, then it can also be achieved.” Rashid said, “We have that kind of ability, skill and talent, so that we can express (everything) while chasing the target. T20 cricket is completely based on mindset. As long as you have the mindset and belief that we can do it, then anything is possible.
