whatsapp is now changing the verified badge from green to blue

WhatsApp is planning another change to the interface. The messaging app is set to upgrade its verification system, replacing the existing green badges for verified businesses and channels with blue checkmarks. The change is in line with Meta’s broader strategy to standardise the visual appearance of verified accounts across all its platforms, including Instagram, X and Facebook, to boost user trust and authenticity.

WhatsApp changes the color of the verified badge for iOS users

It seems like WhatsApp is now giving iOS users a chance to experiment with the new checkmark, as it is already available for Android users.

Meanwhile, WhatsApp tracker WABetaInfo reports that the messaging app has switched to blue checkmarks for channel and business verification to align more closely with Meta’s visual branding. This update replaces the old green badge, providing a more unified appearance across platforms and increasing user trust. The blue checkmark ensures authenticity by protecting users from potential impersonation and facilitating secure interactions with verified businesses and channels.

Now Verified Blue Badge will be shown on WhatsApp

The move can also be seen as a response to Meta Verified, a tool introduced by Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg two months ago and is now available to select businesses in some markets.

Meta introduced Meta AI for all platforms including WhatsApp in June. The company said that their Meta AI can assist users in routine activities, learning and creative activities. Meta AI, which was first unveiled at Meta Connect last year and is powered by the most recent Llama 3 technology, has been rolling out globally since April and is now available to Indian users.
