aissc president syed nasiruddin chishti supported the waqf bill necessary to bring transparency

On the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2024, Syed Naseeruddin Chishti, President, All India Sufi Sajjadanasheen Council (AISSC), Ajmer, said that there is a need to bring transparency in Waqf, there is a need to stop the misuse of funds. He further said that I urge those who mislead people to support the government. This is a very important issue related to Muslims. A good bill is very necessary to regulate Waqf. There is a need to curb corruption, misuse of land and funds in the Waqf Board.

However, the opposition is continuously opposing it. On the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi said that religious matters are very sensitive. We have always been telling the government not to take hasty decisions. But now it is quite clear that they do not intend to work for anyone’s welfare and only focus on politics and appeasement and to save themselves in the upcoming elections in Maharashtra and Haryana. We demanded to send this bill to JPC.

Manoj Kumar Jha said that such a bill should not be brought just for the sake of politics. The decision to send it to the JPC perhaps gives a message to understand the mandate as well. Shashi Tharoor said that there were people who wanted to speak but they were not given a chance because many people are against bringing this bill. This is unconstitutional. Let it be discussed in the committee, only then will we say something. RJD MP Misa Bharti said that we also demanded that it be placed in the JPC. The way this bill has been brought in a hurry, the minister and the government were also unclear because they did not have an answer to the questions raised by the opposition. There are many points that have not been discussed. It has not been discussed with the states… The government itself is saying that this bill should be sent to the committee.
